Memorable Quotes from Love Actually

Prime Minister: When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sam: The only thing about romance is that people only get together right at the very end.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Karen: Would you stay, knowing that life would be a bit worse? or would you cut and run?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Juliet: We've never got friendly. I just wanted to say I hope that can change. I'm nice, I really am, apart from my terrible taste in pie. And it would be great if we could be friends.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Karl: Life is full of interruptions and complications.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mia: I'll just be around the mistletoe, hoping to be kissed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[on sheets of poster board]
Mark: With any luck by next year
Mark: I'll be going out with one of these girls.
[pictures of beautiful supermodels]
Mark: But for now, let me say
Mark: Without hope or agenda
Mark: Just because it's Christmas
Mark: (And at Christmas you tell the truth)
Mark: To me, you are perfect
Mark: And my wasted heart will love you
Mark: Until you look like this
[picture of mummy]
Mark: Merry Christmas
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mark: To me, you are perfect.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Daniel: So what's the problem, Sammy-o? Maybe... school - are you being bullied? or is it, I don't know - something worse? Can you give me any clues at all?
Sam: You really want to know?
Daniel: I really want to know.
Sam: Even though you won't be able to do anything to help?
Daniel: Even if that's the case.
Sam: OK. The truth is... I'm in love.
Daniel: Sorry?
Sam: The truth is I'm in love and there's nothing I can do about it, and it just keeps getting worse.
Daniel: (Laughs) Aren't you a bit young to be in love?
Sam: No.
Daniel: [properly chastised] Oh, OK, right. Well, I can't deny it. I'm a little relieved.
Sam: Why?
Daniel: Well, you know - I thought it might be something worse. Sam
[incredulous]
Sam: Worse then the total agony of being in love?
Daniel: [thinks- long pause -realizes] Oh. Yeah, you're right. Total agony.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Billy Mack: Christmas is the time to be with the ones you love.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Harry: Tell me, exactly, how long it is that you've been working here?
Sarah: Two years, seven months, three days and, I suppose, what, two hours?
Harry: Right. And how long have you been in love with Karl?
Sarah: Sorry?
Harry: How long have you been in love with Karl, our enigmatic chief designer?
Sarah: Ahm, two years, seven months, three days and, I suppose, and hour and thirty minutes.
Harry: I thought as much.
Sarah: Do you think everybody knows?
Harry: Yes.
Sarah: Do you think Karl knows?
Harry: Yes.
Sarah: That is bad news.
Harry: I just think perhaps now is the time to do something about it.
Sarah: Right. What sort of thing did you have in mind?
Harry: How about ask him for a drink, and then maybe after twenty minutes casually slip into the conversation the fact that you love him totally and would like to marry him and have lots of sex and babies.
Sarah: You know that?
Harry: Yes. And so does Karl. Think about it. For all our sakes.
Sarah: Certainly. Excellent. Will do. Thanks, boss.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Billy Mack: And without knowing it, I've spent most of my adult life with a chubby employee!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Billy Mack: When I was young, I was greedy and foolish, and now I'm left with no one. Wrinkled and alone.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Karen: You mean there was more than one lobster present at the birth of Jesus?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Billy Mack: Kids, this is a message from your Uncle Billy. Don't buy drugs. Wait until you're a rock star, and they give them to you for free!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dec: So Billy, I believe you've brought a prize for one lucky viewer.
Billy Mack: Yes, Ant or Dec. I've got this fabulous, personalized felt pen!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prime Minister: We are a nation of... Harry Potter!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Natalie, a servant, is greeting the Prime Minister]
Natalie: Hello, David. Oh, shit, I can't believe I just did that. Oh and now I've gone and said "shit" - twice.
Prime Minister: Well, at least you didn't say "fuck", right?
Natalie: I just knew that I was going to fuck up my first day.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jamie: It's my favorite time of day, driving you.
Aurelia: [in Portuguese] It is the saddest part of my day, leaving you.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Daniel: You've seen the films, kiddo. It ain't over 'til it's over.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sam: Girls love musicians, don't they? Even the really weird ones get girlfriends.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sam: She doesn't even know my name. And even if she did she'd despise me. She's the coolest girl in school and everyone worships her because she's heaven.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Colin: American girls would seriously dig me with my cute British accent.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sam: Let us go get the shit kicked out of us by love.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Natalie: He says no one's going to fancy a girl with thighs the size of big tree trunks. Not a nice guy, actually, in the end.
Prime Minister: Right. Goodness. Well, well. You know, being Prime Minister, I could just have him killed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Colin: I am Colin. God of Sex. I'm just on the wrong continent, that's all.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mikey, DJ interviewer: What's the best shag you've ever had?
Billy Mack: Britney Spears. No, only kidding, she was rubbish.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prime Minister: [to a portrait of Margaret Thatcher] Did you have this kind of problem? Of course you did you saucy minx.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prime Minister: Love, actually, is all around us.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Aurelia jumps into the lake with hardly any clothes on to save Jamie's book]
Jamie: Oh great! Now if I don't jump in, she'll think I'm a total spaz
[takes off his sweater]
Aurelia: [in Portuguese] Fuck it's cold!
[Jamie dives in]
Jamie: Oh it's fucking cold!
Aurelia: [in Portuguese] This better be a good book.
Jamie: You know, this book is full of crap.
Aurelia: [in Portuguese] Why doesn't he make copies?
Jamie: I should really make copies.
[beat]
Jamie: God, I hate eels. I hope there aren't any eels.
Aurelia: [in Portuguese] Don't kick up the bottom. You might wake up the eels.
[Jamie screams in shock because of the eels]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prime Minister: [on the phone to his sister] I'm very busy and important: how can I help you?

unknown mood
always get into this unknown mood that i dont like after a show like love actually. blah.
anyway, had a horrible nightmare last night. not as horrible as dreaming of being murdered, but it's close. erk. starting to have a phobia. didnt like it much in the first place, but it's becoming worse. oh no.
on a happier(i think) note, i'm making a trip to chatterbox at mandarin with mintae, abby and sandy on Tue. passed by it today actually. pau went to the toilet in mandarin hotel mahz. i wanted so much to just pop my head in and say 'hi', but i decided against it. what's the point? they most probably wouldnt remember me, and they could be busy. we'll see on tuesday.
oh and pau saw the photo of "Professor Snape". PY sent it to her. haha. shall ask pau to send it to me later. sam, you should really ask him to cut his hair.
an update on the jewish guy: told him what i thought was the correct email address. he said i was sweet *pukes* and he wished the person was me instead. i lied i was attached to prevent any uncomfortable situation. oh and he seemed persistant in wanting my photo. told him i dont have a digital camera or a scanner, but he still asked if i had an online photo. (-_-'"!) Irene thinks he's despo. haha.
sea games: joscelin yeo is a very fast swimmer. i'm impressed. watched her swim on TV mobile on the way home. she was really superb. at the last few metres, she just sped up and overtook the rest. wow. she got first in both the events that i saw. nice tatoo on the back too. haha.
feel like buying the Love actually soundtrack. shall see my fund first. i still own pau $30, lulu $6.80, HL quite a lot for the hotel room, jas $7 for bbq, tiff for gil's present, photo developing service, and on other people's present. spent so much today. ah.
to pau and jaz: have a safe and nice trip!

love actually
it's a really nice and funny show. not very romantic cuz some parts are really sad. like the guy who loved his best friend's wife. (i think i loved this story the most) or the woman who realised her husband bought someone else a gold necklace while all she got was a scarf and a cd. well, some stories are hard to believe though. but it's still wonderfully filmed.
parts that are just wonderful to laugh at is the dance by hugh G, the little boy who's in love with a school mate etc. oh yes, and the bill guy. haha.
if i were in a very emotional mood, i think i would have cried.

in my life
There are places I remember all my life,
Though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain.
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends, I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all.
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them.
In my life I love you more.
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them.
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more.

bored
let's see how i spent the entire morning and half of the afternoon. watched tv, more tv and even more tv. am so glad i got cable. if only dad applied for HBO or all those other channels with nice serials. the pilots are not coming fast enough. blah.
anyway, i caught a rerun of the old baywatch. midge's son was so young then. haha. but he was already kissing this girl. how sweet though a little young. but that's not the part i like most. the part is liked most was when one of the lifeguard confessed his feelings for his fellow lifeguard. damn sweet. the girl was complaining about her mother dating this guy, and how it wont work out cuz friends are not supposed to be dating, cuz it just complicates stuff. and this guy says it's possible cuz then you will get to know the person,(blah blah blah)and that all of a sudden, the feeling just sneezes (yes, that's the word he used) up on you. girl doesnt get it. guy says, "i'm complicating things.".
towards the end of the show, the girl said that no matter what, people should always remain friends, even if the relationship dont work out. right. like it's easy to do that.
watching too much tv. haha.
just let me ramble on. i'm truly bored.
oh yes. i just found out i'm on this dating online service. (jdate.com) it's an online dating service to look for jewish dates. ok. talked to this 25 years old guy online. that's how i found out. i find it amusing. he said he added me to his contacts after realising that "i" viewed his profile. thing is there's no such user as me. tried to log in but there's none. since i'm so bored now, i shall try to sign up for it using the fake email again. i'll get back to you. haha. this is the result of having a whole holiday, and nothing to do. anyone knows anybody who wants tuition?
umm. sha asked about the poem thingy. told her it's a joke. at least i think it is a joke. cuz most of the things in the poem are not even true.
i'm done rambling. now to try to jdate.com. haha.

rainy day
spent the early afternoon helping miss G. then slacked the rest of the day at pau's house. played with her youngest sister cuz pau wasnt feeling well. her youngest sister is so cute! she really looks like a doll with her big eyes, soft wavy hair and small mouth. she wanted to sing from this book of hers and asked me to cover my eyes with her "clown clown" before she was willing to sing. (somehow she didnt want me to look at her mouth while she sings) then she kept laughing while singing. couldnt really hear what she was singing since it's so soft, but from a young child, it's always cute. haha. so many other things she did that was so so so damn cute, but too lazy to mention right now and i got to go watch my shuai pilot now. hee.

birth number
something interesting and rather accurate:
Once you've discovered your Birth Number,
forward this email to the rest of your friends,
including the one who sent this to you. Put
your "number" in the "Subject" and Pass it on !
Have fun!
Your birth date describes who we are, what we
are good at and what our inborn abilities are.
It also points to what we have to learn and the
challenges we are facing.
To figure out your Birth Number, add all the
numbers in the birth date together, like in the
example, until there is only one digit.
A Birth Number does not prevent you from being
anything you want to be, it will just color your
choice differently and give you a little insight.
Example : March 20, 1950
3 + 20 + 1950 = 1973 = 1 + 9 + 7 + 3 = 20 = 2 +
0 = 2
2 is the Birth Number to read for the birth date
in the example.
Your number is _____,
1 THE ORIGINATOR
2 THE PEACEMAKER
3 THE LIFE OF THE PARTY
4 THE CONSERVATIVE
5 THE NONCONFORMIST
6 THE ROMANTIC
7 THE INTELLECTUAL
8 THE BIG SHOT
9 THE PERFORMER
1 - THE ORIGINATOR
1 's are originals. Coming up with new ideas and
executing them is natural. Having things their
own way is another trait that gets them as being
stubborn and arrogant. 1's are extremely honest
and do well to learn some diplomacy skills. They
like to take the initiative and are often
leaders or bosses, as they like to be the best.
Being self-employed is definitely helpful for
them. Lesson to learn: Others' ideas might be
just as good or better and to stay open minded.
Famous 1's: Tom Hanks, Robert Redford, Hulk
Hogan, Carol Burnett, Wynona Judi, Nancy Reagan,
Raquel Welch
2 - THE PEACEMAKER
2's are the born diplomats. They are aware of
others' needs and moods and often think of
others before themselves. Naturally analytical
and very intuitive they don't like to be alone.
Friendship and companionship is very important
and can lead them to be successful in life, but
on the other hand they'd rather be alone than in
an uncomfortable relationship. Being naturally
shy they should learn to boost their self-esteem
and express themselves freely and seize the
moment and not put things off.
Famous 2's: President Bill Clinton, Madonna,
Whoopee Goldberg, Thomas Edison, Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart
3 - THE LIFE OF THE PARTY
3's are idealists. They are very creative,
social, charming, romantic, and easygoing. They
start many things, but don't always see them
through. They like others to be happy and go to
great lengths to achieve it. They are very
popular and idealistic. They should learn to see
the world from a more realistic point of
view.
Famous 3's: Alan Alda, Ann Launders, Bill Cosby,
Melanie Griffith, Salvador Dali, Jodi Foster
4 - THE CONSERVATIVE
4's are sensible and traditional. The like order
and routine. They only act when they fully
understand what they are expected to do. They
like getting their hands dirty and working hard.
They are attracted to the outdoors and feel an
affinity with nature. They are prepared to wait
and can be stubborn and persistent. They should
learn to be more flexible and to be nice to
themselves.
Famous 4's: Neil Diamond, Margaret Thatcher,
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tina Turner, Paul Hogan,
Oprah Winfrey
5 - THE NONCONFORMIST
5's are the explorers. Their natural curiosity,
risk taking, and enthusiasm often land them in
hot water. They need diversity, and don't like
to be stuck in a rut. The whole world is their
school and they see a learning possibility in
every situation. The questions never stop. They
are well advised to look before they
take action and make sure they have all the
facts before jumping to conclusions.
Famous 5's: Abraham Lincoln, Charlotte Bronte,
Jessica Walter, Vincent Van Gogh, Bette Midler,
Helen Keller and Mark Hamil.
6 - THE ROMANTIC
6's are idealistic and need to feel useful to be
happy. A strong family connection is important
to them. Their actions influence their
decisions. They have a strong urge to take care
of others and to help. They are very loyal and
make great teachers. They like art or music.
They make loyal friends who take the friendship
seriously. 6's should learn to differentiate
between what they can change and what they
cannot.
Famous 6's: Albert Einstein, Jane Seymour, John
Denver, Meryl Streep, Christopher Columbus,
Goldie Hawn
7 - THE INTELLECTUAL
7's are the searchers. Always probing for hidden
information, they find it difficult to accept
things at face value. Emotions don't sway their
decisions. Questioning everything in life, they
don't like to be questioned themselves. They're
never off to a fast start, and their motto is
slow and steady wins the race. They come across
as philosophers & being very knowledgeable, and
sometimes as loners. They are technically
inclined and make great researchers uncovering
information. They like secrets. They live in
their own world and should learn what is
acceptable and what not in the world at large.
Famous 7's: William Shakespeare, Lucille Ball,
Michael Jackson, Joan Baez,Princess Diana
8 - THE BIG SHOT
8's are the problem solvers. They are
professional, blunt and to the point, have good
judgment and are decisive. They have grand plans
and like to live the good life. They take charge
of people. They view people objectively. They
let you know in no uncertain terms that they are
the boss. They should learn to exude their
decisions on their own needs rather than on what
others want.
Famous 8's: Edgar Cayce, Barbra Streisand, George
Harrison, Jane Fonda, Pablo Picasso, Aretha
Franklin, Nostrodamus
9 - THE PERFORMER
9's are natural entertainers. They are very
caring and generous, giving away their last
dollar to help. With their charm, they have no
problem making friends and nobody is a stranger
to them. They have so many different
personalities that people around them have a
hard time understanding them. They are like
chameleons, ever changing and blending in. They
have tremendous luck, but also can suffer from
extremes in fortune and mood. To be successful,
they need to build a loving foundation.
Famous 9's: Albert Schweitzer, Shirley MacLaine,
Harrison Ford, Jimmy Carter, Elvis Presley

badminton
played about 4.5 hours of badminton just now. now i'm aching all over. haha. i must really exercise more often. seng was still going to play soccer with his friends. wonder how he can still take it.
though it was damn tiring, i had a great time. jaz, kim and seng kept fighting for the shuttlecock, shouting "my turn! my turn!" but missing the shuttlecock in the end. seng was always scolded cuz he kept hitting the shuttlecock. but what else do you expect him to do when the shuttlecock's right in front of him? jaz was also saying that kim was biased. haha. (who ask you to ask him to keep scores?) i was laughing so much i couldnt hit the shuttlecock properly. sam had to do it. and sam was like a mouse, running here and there, except staying where he was supposed to be - playing the back position. he says he's jinxed. think i shall not comment on that. haha. i do agree that seng's a nice guy though.
think i'm having a fever. i refuse to take out my thermometer to check though. had enough of it in school during the SARs period. wonder if the one-week-old milestone is the cause of the recent headaches. ear is bloody red, literally. shall be good and stay at home for the next few days and start packing my room. been out almost everyday since o's ended. all the textbooks and notes are already in boxes. wonder who wants them. it's such a waste to throw all the notes and test papers away.
and lastly, i wanna play badminton again!
